Ingredients

  • Sprouted or boiled beans (matki/moong/chana)
  • Onion, garlic, green chilli
  • Mustard, cumin, curry leaves, turmeric
  • Grated coconut and coriander
  • 💡 You can also use Mustard Oil / Sunflower Oil / Coconut Oil / Black Sesame Oil / Olive Oil as per your preference.

How to Make Usal

    Heat the Anveshan Groundnut Oil and crackle mustard, cumin and curry leaves.

    Add onion, garlic and green chilli; sauté until soft.

    Add turmeric and the beans; toss to coat.

Tips for the Best Usal

  • Keep usal fairly dry — it's a sabzi-style dish, not a curry.
  • Fresh coconut on top is the traditional finish.
